The Library is also home of the Falcon 40 Morning Bulletin. The Crew showed their Homecoming spirit by sewing their own Disney theme tshirts.
Librarian Meeting
A voluntary Honolulu Librarian Meeting was held on September 3, 2015 at Kalani's library. Dr. Violet Harada, suggested a maker space of lesson planning for our meeting format. Elementary librarians created a note taking lesson plan and posted it in the Hawaii Association of School Librarians' website. The middle and high school librarians created a website to share fun ways to practice Smarter Balance Assessment skills. It was the first attempt at using Google sites.
Introduction to Coding
Kano Kits, secured from a Good Idea Grant, enabled interested students to learn coding. Four after school sessions will be held
each quarter to allow off-season athletes to participate. Second quarter sessions
will be on 10/19, 11/2, 11/30, 12/7 at 2 pm in the library. Please sign-up at
the library soon as only three slots are left.
Professional Development Day
Kalani teachers stepped up and shared what they do in their classrooms with their peers. Follow-up sessions will be held on extended meeting days to help teachers implement what they learned on the PD day. The library web site was highlighted. The special education teachers loved the Overdrive ebook site as they could find books for their students that read aloud to them.
